| About: | Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria , 219 offers a taste of New Orleans in a neighborhood of cobblestone streets and brick townhouses. Live jazz spices up the restaurant's Creole creations. Artists perform Tuesday through Saturday. Gumbo, steak and barbecued shrimp are favorites here. The crab cakes are also quite good, as are the other many seafood offerings. |

Not Creole and a poor attempt at French. I'm not sure were Thai came from because that isn't there at all. Service was poor and we had to ask for apps, menus to be removed, and finally the check. Apps were well below average but entrees were 50/50 at our table. Altogether - Not sure what they want to be and not worth the price.
There are much better places on King Street, go to those instead.
Very Bad Experience: We visited both the restaurant and bar portions of 219 on a week night. The food downstairs was great and the wait staff compentent and friendly, although it took a while for the food to arrive. The service upstairs at the bar, however, was unacceptable. Even though the bar was not busy, we had a lot of trouble ordering drinks and settling the tab because the bartender was very distracted. I discovered later that I was charged twice - once for my bar tab and once for another patron. I have been in touch with the managers of 219 and been told that my overcharge is not a priority because they have numerous other complaints to take care of. I will NOT be returning.
Disappointed: I loved 219 -- now that they have gone Thai I am not sure I will go back. We ordered several appetizers and an entree and it was just OK - I love Thai food but I would suggest one of the other Thai restaurants within a three block radius.
