My husband and I decided to go for a drive the other day and we ended up driving to Fredericksburg (we live 100 miles away). I had never been there, and we were getting hungry. Since we were on an adventure we decided to try something new for lunch. We drove past El Asador, but didn't stop, we kept on for a bit, but ended up turning around, we were hungry and so we stopped at El Asador. I am so glad we did. When we walked in, we knew the food would be good as there were 5 tables of Mexican/Salvadoran customers. If the locals eat there, then the food is usually good. And it was. The salsa was fresh and flavorful. I had tamales de elote (sweet corn tamale), and they were freshly made as were the beans and the chicken. My husband had a wonderful Salvadoran pork stew. We were so pleased with our discovery. If you get a chance to visit El Asador, you should try it. The atmosphere was nothing to write home about, but the food was worth the stop. We can't wait to go on another adventure and end up in F-burg so we can have lunch at El Asador.
