Whenever my family and I are in the DC area we always make it a point to eat at this delicious and friendly restaurant. The sauces and pasta are phenomenal, the prices are reasonable, and you will NEVER leave hungry.
The pizza was great but beware charging anything here. We arrived with several members in our group and when we got back to work after lunch had found they added an extra 20% for a tip on everyone. When called they said it would take 3 days to get our money back. It was only 4 dollars but its the fact that there are ripping everyone off.
Generous George's may be a playground for children, but it's a penal colony for adults. Noisey, crowded, confused -- maybe what's delivered is what you've ordered -- slow service, and really bad pizza. And whoever heard of putting pasta on top of pizza and thinking it's a crowning gem?
I like the pizza but the place is dirty. My first time I had it to go. The second and last time I ate it there and a roach was watching me eat the whole time!
It's okay.: I'd go back...but not out of my way to re-visit this fairly average pizza and pasta place. The servings are gigantic, the service a bit slow, and the prices fairly reasonable. Kids seem to enjoy the ambiance and it is certainly better than a Chuckie Cheese or the like.
More Food for Your Buck: LOVE THIS PLACE! I've been eating here since I was 12! They give you more pasta than you can eat in one sitting. Never had the pizza but LOVE THE PASTA!
A family favorite: This is another family tradition which dates back to when they had an Annandale location that was within walking distance from our house. That one has since closed, but we still drive down to Duke Street when we want a dose of comfort food. Our favorite "'pasta pie" has always been the Clamtastic Pesto Pizza, a huge helping of fettucine with green pesto and clams over a pizza crust; we share this with at least two people, or sometimes three. They also have interesting salads, but since the pasta portions are huge, we usually get a regular Georgie house salad with tomato vinaigrette dressing. Drinks are also huge- the individual drinks are served in plastic pitchers. Our girls have always loved the eclectic decor, and always want to climb on the elephant or tiger to get a view of the guys making the pizza behind the counter. You can also have a kid's birthday party here, where they get to make their own pizzas.
GREAT FOR KIDS: LAST TIME WE WENT, WE WERE 6KIDS & 5 ADULTS.
IT WAS GREAT NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE KIDS TALKING TOO LOUD OR WANTING TO GO TO THE OTHER END OF THE RESTAURANTS.
Good Stuff: for both a young and old crowd. be on the look out for both types of groups. The old crowd can guzzle large beers while the young crowd (under 13) can run around down stairs. Pizza is great and helpings are huge!
Kids Love this place!: The atmosphere is so much fun and the kids will have a lot to enjoy there. The service is not only prompt, but kind. Is a great place for a crowd, and the unique menu is a part of the fun.
Fun place for kids: We've gone there more than a few times with our 2 boys, and they both love it. Not only the "make your own pizza", but the atmosphere makes it fun for them. There's alot of eclectic pieces of art and furniture that gets their attention, and it's busy enough to keep their attention. And the adult food is also great to eat, with, as the name implies, generous portions.
Good food and a lil different atmosphere: Pizza here is good, but I have a thing for their steak and chesse, but the pasta is also good. They been around forever and have good customer service.
First place to entertain visiting friends: The atmosphere is eccletic, family friendly and priced to fit any budget with leftovers for a next meal. My favorite is the scallops with pesto sauce, chicken and pesto is fantastic, my young son likes the fettucine alfredo with extra peas. Generous Georges is generous indeed and we are generous to share the experience with friends and family.
The Best All Around!: You can't go wrong with this one: cheap but delicious food, friendly staff, exciting environment and the kids are crazy about the place. Who could ask for more!
Original winning pasta-pizza creation: You won't find this amazing creation anywhere else. Imagine al dente pasta, tangy cream sauce and flavorful spices on top of a puffy hot bread. It's like no pizza you've ever had.
Cheap, Cheesey Joint That Kids LOVE: It looks like Chuck E. Cheese exploded in this Alexandria pizza joint. Balloons, games, things everywhere you look... kids love it, but the 'rents will totally dig the food, which rocks as long as you aren't trying to stay slim!
