There are so few restaurants in the Strasburg-Woodstock area where you can find both charming ambiance and outstanding cuisine but this one fills the bill for both. It is in the Strasburg Hotel, which was built as a hospital in the early 20th century and is decorated in the style of that era. Ingredients are fresh and perfectly cooked. They have a nice and varied selection of wines and entrees. Some entrees are for "petite appetites," which I particularly liked since most restaurant portions are almost twice the amount I'd normally eat. Prices are reasonable and service is polite and attentive. I would rate it five stars for dinner. Breakfast was a different story.Okay, but nothing special.
Was with a friend visiting her great aunt in Front Royal, and we were looking for a nice place to have dinner on a Friday night. After reading over the other reviews of this place, the Hotel Strasburg seemed the perfect place to go.
The restaurant is set in the back of old rustic hotel that has been refurbished and rejuvenated very nicely. The dining room is absolutely charming with antique rugs and furnishings (at least they appeared to be antiques). The dining room has a high ceiling and there is a very relaxed vibe to this downtown Strasburg establishment. This is the sort of place that you can dress up for if you wish, or you can dress down in shorts and sports shirt. Either way you will not feel out of place at the Hotel Strasburg.
The food was very good here and prices quite reasonable I thought. Dinner for two with salad and a bottle of wine came to around $75 before tip. Most everything seemed to be homemade (one of the better ceasar salads I've had at a restaurant in a while), and the dishes very nicely prepared. Service was polite, friendly and prompt.
All things considered, we very much enjoyed our dining experince here. The food here is certainly not world class by any stretch of the imagination, but we enjoyed everything we tried. There were a few amaturish aspects to dining here - the wine list is nothing to write home about and the waitress forgot to include the "special wine" page with the wine list - but we enjoyed our time here and would certainly go back. In fact, we had such a good time we brought the great aunt for lunch the next day.
What more can I say? If you're expecting an Inn at Little Washington type experience then obviously you need to go elsewhere. This is not that. However, if you'd like a nice, relaxed meal in pleasant surroundings with pleasant and polite wait staff (and very affordable prices), then the Hotel Strasburg will be a hit for you.
They wait on you hand and foot: I love this place so much. My husband took me there for dinner right before he proposed. The ambiance is great. The entire place is full of antiques, supposedly for sale. Service is excellent. They wait on you hand and foot. I can't say enough about the food. Menu changed frequently, but I always find something I want and love.
