My family stopped to eat on our way out hiking for the day. The staff was extremely pleasant and the food was excellent. My boys, 12 years old, absolutely loved the French toast. They said it was the best they'd ever eaten. I had an omelet with goat cheese, spinach, and tomatoes. It too was superb!
I would love to go back to this restaurant. It's setting is in a quaint town near the Shenandoah Mountains. My bf and I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. Great service and food! Though a bit costly, it was well worth it.
It's not all that it's cracked up to be!: Although my experience differs from everyone elses, I am basing my review on my experience: The atmosphere was small, yet comfortable. The service was good, and the presentation was excellent. I had ordered the seafood pasta. This dish included mussels, shrimp, and scallops on spaghetti with tomato sauce. The presentation was good, but the taste was barely mediocre. The shrimp was undercooked and bluish in color. The mussels were good, but in taste only. I personally don't think the mussels could get much smaller! However, the pork loin that my grandmother had ordered looked delicious, as did my parent's dishes. The only flaw I could find in everyone elses dishes were smears and smudges in the rims where it looked as if the chef and/or cooks had wiped away a small spill, but it made the plate look dirty.
I will say though, I would go there again, but I will definately stay away from the shrimp. When it comes to shrimp, I like it cooked!
Great alternatives to this restaurant are "It's About Thyme", in Culpeper, or "Bonefish Grille", in Fredericksburg.
