Mexican Restaurant Jalisco

My wife and I live in Staunton and were in Harrisonburg for the evening to unwind at the Barnes and Noble and do a little shopping. She said that she was hungry so I suggested the Italian restaurant at the end of the shopping complex. However, she wanted Mexican. We drove around for awhile and came upon Jalisco 3, which is not far from the mall.

Though we were a bit hesitant to try an unknown entity, we went ahead and walked inside. Boy were we pleasantly surprised! We loved the Pacific-inspired decor and the lighting was just right for dining. The menu was extremely varied and included regional selections from Jalisco, which I had the pleasure of visiting 25 years ago.

The food was seasoned far better than our favorite restaurant in Charlottesville, Amigos. Most of all, my wife's carne asada and my fried chicken chimachanga were delicious and presented exquisitely on the plate. Jalisco 3 has the best guacamole I've ever tasted. For desert, my wife ordered flan while I opted for the fried ice cream. Once again, Jalisco delivered.

The service was the best we've had at any restaurant in Harrisonburg ensures we will return in the future. My wife is a native Texan and she stated that Jalisco 3's fare is better than anything you can find in the border states. This is a real gem of a restaurant and I feel fortunate to live so close to such authentic Mexican cuisine.

Wow! This was a great experience. Top notch authentic Mexican dishes (and lots of it) for a reasonable price. A huge menu with all the typical favs, like fajitas, burritos, and such, plus good salsa, but not too spicy, just great flavor. If you don't leave stuffed and happy, it's your own fault! Nice atmosphere (despite remodeling), great service and very friendly staff makes this a place worth coming back to again and again.
The Jumbo margaritas were awesome (and fishbowl sized), they also offer a "monster" size which I can't even imagine... If you love good Mexican food, you have to check this place out! Highly recommended.

I agree with the other reviewers. This place is really good. Try the Wednesday lunch special on your first trip. You will be hooked!
