No doubt about it...this is the ONLY GERMAN food I have had since living in Spangdahlem while in the AF.
The sausage plate is nothing short of awesome. The potatoes and Sauerkraut were Zer Gut!
My wife had the wienersnitzel and the mushroom gravy was perfect.
Though I was dissappointed with my entree...I had the cordon bleu...I wouldn't recommend it...the sauce was loaded with smoky paprika; it tasted more like a Mexican adobe chile sauce than a German sauce...maybe it was supposed to be Hungarian...I'm used to a brown mushroom gravy with a cordon bleu..
The sides were good enough to order as main dishes...we had the green beans, dumplings, and red cabbage...
And don't stop at the enormous entrees...the deserts are worth the extra effort...
Although the round trip to Leesburg on hwy 29 is less than pleasant...the Bavarian Chef is worth it.
Outstanding food, great atmosphere, and superb service made this a memorable dining experience. The portions are huge and cooked to perfection. We look forward to going back for our next visit. Make sure that you come hungry.
We live just down the road from B-Chef and it's a GREAT special treat. Excellent food. Perfect for a romantic dinner for two, or take a group of six or eight. Groups get ALL of the yummy sides/vegetables served family style, so you don't have to choose just a few. It's best to have reservations, and if you get seated downstairs, there's a great older German gentleman who provides excellent service and makes the experience seem all the more "authentic". We love it, and we're sure you will, too. Their red bell pepper soup with crab meat is the most wonderful food ever. Even though it's a special, it's regularly available if you ask. They had pork porterhouse over a sausage stuffing that was excellent, and the sauerbraten is always, always tender and delicious. Yum...I'm hungry just thinking about it.
