Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. I had read in doing some research for places to eat in C'ville that Bizou was a dive, but had very good food. It was a favorite in town. Well, I didn't think it was a dive at all. It was cramped, sure, but it had character. The staff was absolutely top-notch. We sat at the bar right in front of the cooks preparing everything. As furiously as they were working, they readily and cheerfully answered questions like: "What is that?" or "What's in the sauce there?"
They even gave us stuff to try. The bargirl was like having a pal you brought with you tending the bar. And the food. The food was fantastic! The place is noisy and, again, very tight, but it definately has earned it's spot as one of C'ville's faves. (Unlike Cassi's around the corner--Horrible. Pretentious. Hopefully short-lived. See review).
My husband and I are from Pennsylvnia visiting my son and his wife who took us to Bizou. We are very casual people and like the unique hometown restaurants with great food when we travel. The food had an upscale presentation with a casual atmosphere, a huge helping of food, incredible service and was relatively reasonably price. I had their unique chicken pot pie and my husband had the salmon done perfectly over mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. Outstanding!
This is our favorite restaurant in the entire region. It's worth the 2-hour drive. Some part of the meal is dependably fabulous and everything is always very good, the wine list has good choices, the wait staff seem to like their jobs and like the patrons and are very flexible and accommodating AND there always seems to be room with very little wait in this sweet cozy bistro with a European feel. Even the chefs greet you as you enter.
