| About: | Eleven thrilling roller coasters, a water park and lots of kids rides make this park a favorite summer destination for families. Roller coasters range from the stand-up and hanging variety to one that shoots you out of a volcano. The Rebel Yell, a wooden coaster, offers the option of riding a car that travels backwards. For those who are not quite as fearless, there are several family rides that are equally as fun—a ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower, a log flume and an old-fashioned carousel. Ongoing entertainment, games and snack bars keep everyone happy throughout the day. The park is 30 minutes north of Richmond off I-95, Exit 98. |

As an amusement park enthusiast, I know about the industry, and have been to many parks, and can give Kings Dominion a fair, and realistic grade.
Kings Dominion, like the rest of the Paramount Parks, was mismanaged under the Paramount reign, receiving poor investments from 1993-2006. However, when Cedar Fair took over in 2006, this slowly is starting to change. The park lacked a stand-out "perfect" ride until this year when they received Dominator from the former Geauga Lake. Dominator was the first, in my opinion, high quality coaster at the park. Volcano, and Flight of Fear are both enjoyable, but lack in re-rideablity (meaning simply they're not worth waiting for). Kings Dominion was also lacking in their employee program for some time (they are some of the slowest workers I've ever seen), but this is slowly changing.
Kings Dominion isn't somewhere I would really recommend at this time for someone that wants a good collection of thrill rides. However, this appears to be changing under the Cedar Fair ownership.
We are happy season pass holders to KD. This is the first year in many that we have bought passes because our children have grown enough so we can all enjoy the park equally. I was thrilled on the Dominator! It is a fantastic ride and it is fun to watch as well. I was shocked that the hypersonic isn't there anymore but all of the other rides were fun and my daughter(a first timer) had a blast on all of the coasters. We have yet to use the water park but it is still early and we have the whole summer to enjoy it. If you live close by, you can't beat getting the season pass, it will pay for itself in a few visits. Do understand that if you go on a weekend you will be standing in line for many of the popular rides. My only complaint is the prices for food and drink but the bottomless cup there is well worth the price. There is stuff there for the young and old. I can't wait to go again!!!! :D
SO Awesome: Paramounts KingsDominion is so great! The Volcanoe and the HyperSonic XLC are the best rides. I recommend this amusement park for familys and thrill seekers!!!
