Much better than the place across the street. Very pleasant wait staff. Food is reasonable -- very filling. The kids meals are served in a frisbee, which was a great touch for the children. They kept saying, "Why doesn't every restaurant do that?" Only downside is that I felt it was a little pricey for the quality of food, but that's probably fairly normal in a touristy area. Overall, very pleased.
Unlike some of the other reviews, we didn't have any terrible experiences, just a below average dinner. Raw bar and soups were pretty good, salads ok, but dinners were overcooked and tasteless. Considering we both had seafood, not a good sign. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about and the service really started to lag around entree time (8:30 reservation, so perhaps some staff was sent home around 9?)
Considering all the great dining options in Williamsburg (The Inn, Fat Canary, even the Colonial tavernsa are better) the quality and value at Berret's disappoints. 2 apps, 2 dinners, 1 beer and soda = after t&t $90.
After a bad start of a two week vacation, this place was the 180 turn we needed.
We got there late but they were happy to serve us. Food and drinks were excellent. Wairess was great and deserved the great tip. The pull pork is awesome. This is the place to eat.
