Awesome pizza. Large portions. Great value. EAT AT SAL'S RISTORANTE ITALIANO! you will not regret it.
Wow, so glad I tried this place. I was in town from Pasadena, CA, hankering for some GOOD pizza. A friend recommended Sal's on Capital Landing so I walked in and ordered the Sal's Combo Large pizza (which has anchovies on it) and we also ordered another large pizza with artichokes, green peppers, sausage and ricotta cheese. I swear, after every bite I took, I said, "MMmmm" and so did my mom. We stood at the kitchen counter next to the two pizzas talking about how great it was. The sauce, the crust and the toppings were all exactly what I was craving. You could tell everything was high quality.
By the way, the owner is the one who handled my order and he was super nice. I handed him a tip when he gave me my pizzas and he said, "Don't worry about it. I'm the owner. Enjoy your pizza and hope to see you back." If I lived here I'd be back......A LOT!
While staying at the Great Wolf Lodge in Virginia for a couple of days, we needed a break from the hotels menus. We found Sal's in the hotel recomended restaurants and ordered delivery. (ps there are about three places called Sals... this one was reccommened) We had Baked Ziti, Chicken Alfredo, an Italian mixed sub, and Penne Vodka. I will say the food was as good as its going to get for "tourist area" Italian food. Thats not a put down in any way, but when you are away from home, its never going to be like "your favorite or mom's". But feel safe in ordering from here, it was just fine.
The ratio of the portion size to the cost was't great, but not that bad. The food seemed fresh made, and everything but the sub came with a side salad. The only complaint was the Penne Vodka was a bit under-sauced, they need to be aware that when you deliver a light cream sauce it will get absorbed in the pasta so you need to add a bit more. The order also came with some really nice Italian bread and margerine. (PS if the owner reads this, send butter with that bread, cause if we're ordering Alfredo and baked Ziti, we are throwing caustion to the wind already, so get the real stuff, Im on vacation, and that bread deserves it)
The bill with no drinks was 57.00 plus a tip. I would say, if your visiting the area its going to be just fine its a safe bet.
