This is a fun place to go for lunch or dinner, convenient to many shops and attractions. A wonderful variety of seafood, which includes several types of crab, is offered. Cornmeal and Herb Fried Oysters are served on the half-shell with Grand Marnier creme fraiche and Smithfield ham rice pilaf. User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsIf you love She Crab Soup: Then you absolutely have to try the she crab soup served at The Hard Shell downtown. I am a complete seafood addict and have sampled she crab soup from various restaurants in central Virginia and in the Hampton Roads area and I have to say that the Hard Shell has the best she crab soup with the Tobacco Company in downton Richmond following closely at second.
User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsThe food was great: My boyfriend and I took his parents here when they came down to visit. The food was great, and even met his dad's standards (which can be pretty unreasonable). It is not one of the cheapest places to eat, but the next time we have something special to celebrate, you can bet we will be back here.

I absolutely agree with you....over priced for the portions and the food was average at best.....their black board prices for crab is insane. I could go to the grocery store and by 2-3lb for their per pound price. Apettizers are also over priced for their portions. Although my fiancee loved the food....dollar for dollar the Bonefish Grill is a far better value and the food is awesome!
