I went to the Croaker Spot, It was on point. DOn't let the out side fool you. That Place was GREAT!!!! The Food was to die for and the home down feeling is worth the trip. I was there for a team meet with my daughter and we walked over there. the Visitor center told us about it. I can't wait till I get a free weekend to go down there for another plate. Thanks keep it up!!!
I've attempted to follow the crowd to Croaker's Spot (C.S.) twice. The first time I experienced a rude hostess. When I entered the front door she stood fraternizing with a co-worker as I stood there with my handbag and briefcase. My arm was in a sling as I had sprained my shoulder the day before. After 4 or 5 mins, I asked if I could just sit anywhere? She frowned and said, "No, 'I' have to seat you." She sat me across from the bar in a booth with a wet floor that smelled of urine(THIS I KNOW BECAUSE I ACCIDENTALLY DROPPED MY OPEN WALLET ONTO THE SEAT AND SOME OF MY CREDIT CARDS FELL OUT ONTO THE FLOOR!!)I told my server handed me paper towels to wipe them, but I asked for a bag to put them in instead. She apologized for the floor and told the bartender that it was wet and did in fact spell like urine. I asked my server(very pleasant)to be seated elsewhere(not leave, as I should have). My food arrived, it looked and smelled great until I pulled a piece of hair from my mouth. OMG!! And even though, I wear my hair less than an inch in length and curly, I didn't freak out because it not mine. I just asked the server to take it away, I tipped her and left.
My second experience took place this past Friday and was by force because a close friend wanted to go there and since she's having a hard time, I agreed to go where she wanted. So, the arrive, the host was very nice, he seated us where we asked and though it took about 8 mins to get a server, when she came to us she was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Our starters (Sauteed mushroom for me and Buffalo shrimp for her) and entrees (2 Ultimate feasts, fried for her, broiled for me, I don't eat fried food) arrived at a very good pace. EVERYTHING'S GOOD? RIGHT? WRONG!! FISH SCALES. I PAID ALMOST $30 FOR SCALY BROILED FISH... I didn't make a stink nor did I mention it, I ate some grits and when the server came around I asked for a box. Paid for it, my starter and 2-3.00 carbonated lemonades(i don't do carbonation either, by the way). The latter experience was pleasant, everything was in order service-wise, but there is always something going on with the food... and since I patronize for good food and good service, I'm rating C.S. on it's initial visit, since a second time shouldn't have taken place at all, I blame myself for it. Regardless of the crowd(general population), that I've always been reluctant to follow in the first place, I will forever and always take a pass on Croaker's Spot the second time.
It is the best place ever in Richmond.I took my girlfriend there and she hates fish. Since going there she has changed her mind.
