My wife and I wanted to try a different BBQ place in Richmond other than our usual place...let's just say I left vowing never to come back!
At first we were excited about vast choices of sauce and meat.
First, we ordered a two meat combo platter (pulled pork and ribs) and decided to share since my wife wasn't that hungry. However, I was informed by the waitress that there is a $2.50 fee if you want an extra plate for sharing the combo platters. Since they charged extra for sharing, I asked the waitress if it comes with extra portion but she said no. So then I asked if the portion is large enough for sharing and she said yes. Okay...at this point I said charge me extra for the plate and we would share.
Let's just say I was extremely disappointed when the food arrived as this platter was more of a sample portion than a meal. I immediately ordered a pull pork sandwich for myself the portion when the food came out. We were hungry even after we ate all of the food.
Food tasted mediocre at best. The pull pork was not tender at all but mostly dried out. I took three bites and it was gone. The ribs were okay...nothing to really write about...
If you want good flavor and decent portion BBQ, I recommend Buds and Ned's or Extra Billy's. I won't go back to Double T's for sure.
p.s. over priced for portion ( that's a given I guess..)
Disappointing: I've enjoyed Double T's in the past but tonight's meal has ended my visits there. My Red Beans and Rice with Barbeque was appalling. The beans were poured from the can with the oil onto the rice. The barbeque portion was approximately four bites worth. The corn muffin could be used as a hockey puck. My daughter-in-law's "Smoked Brisket Platter" was served on an 8" dish. It looked like a child's portion. My son asked for a refill of his limeade and we were charged for two glasses....they don't have refills. I brought these complaints to the manager's attention and he just listened and shook his head. He did not seem to "get it". It was a very disappointing meal that costs way too much.
I love this place...: The brisket, ribs and bar-b-que is incredible...but you have to try the sauce! The beer menu is solid, the cobler is fine, and Tuesdays are All You Can eat ribs night...but first you have to get through one whole rack before it kicks in.
