| About: | T.G.I. Friday's, the first American casual dining chain, is a dining experience that has become the favorite pastime of millions since 1965. The first T.G.I. Friday's was located at First Avenue and 63rd Street in New York City and featured red and white stripes, a blue exterior and its name -- T.G.I. Friday's. Inside were wooden floors, Tiffany lamps, bentwood chairs and striped tablecloths. The bar area, with its brass rails and stained glass, contributed to the ambiance. For T.G.I. Friday's interior decor, a full time antique "picker" traveled extensively to auctions and flea markets. Memorabilia had to be authentic and, if possible, unique to the area where the new restaurant would be located. In a Nashville warehouse, this "clutter" was restored before being loaded on a truck bound for the next T.G.I. Friday's opening. The New York T.G.I. Friday's enjoyed an immediate and spectacular success. First year revenues totaled $1 million. This restaurant on Manhattan's Upper East Side had become THE meeting place for single adults. In fact, according to Newsweek and The Saturday Evening Post, the opening of T.G.I. Friday's heralded the dawn of the singles age. By 1972, the restaurant as we know it today was taking everyone by storm. By 1975, there were ten T.G.I. Friday's restaurants in eight states. As of June 30 there are 609 in 52 countries! As the guests have changed, so has Friday's. The company has grown and the guests have matured. Now many of them bring their children with them when they dine at T.G.I Friday's and, T.G.I. Friday's still offers an unsurpassed menu selection of food prepared to perfection, served in a lively, engaging atmosphere. |

The worst! First of all-- it smells horrible! You walk in and it smells like A$$ and cigarette smoke. The servers are always unattentive and service is slow. There is never really a crowd, either. Never go here if you need to be back to work the same day because it usually takes 20 minutes to get your order taken, another 30 for it to be served, and even longer if you're waiting for your check. Save yourself some hassle and if you must go to Friday's, go to the nicer one in Short Pump.
I really hate to write bad reviews, but after last nights dinner I feel compelled to write about it. Four of us stopped by Fridays around 4:30 after a long hike for a nice dinner. We were seated and our server took our drink orders and appetizer orders, she brought my dad sweet tea instead of unsweet, okay no biggie he just tells her he wanted unsweet to which the response was "if you want unsweet it's gonna be awhile because it's brewing." Why wouldn't she say that in the first place instead of bringing him sweet when he asked for unsweet?? When she did bring the unsweet she slammed it down spilling some of it. Then she brought our appetizers and extra drinks for the other three of us (even though we had barely touched ours). Then we NEVER saw her again. Another server deliverd our food, no one checked on us, even though my dad needed more tea and my mom needed mayo. We finshed our food (which by the way was fine but hard to enjoy with such poor service). Finally someone stopped by asked if we needed anything which by that time all we wanted was our checks, we told this person that we never saw our server again and she told us that our server was interviewing to be a bartender!! Why would you do that in the middle of your shift and what manager would allow that? I was a server for many years and never heard of that. We were truly disgusted by the situation but did not complain to the manager I don't like people to ever think we're just trying to get a free meal, so I figured I could just write a bad review instead. I'm sure not all the servers are so poor but we won't be heading back there.
So Many To Choose From: If you want to go someone where down the street were you don't mind the atmosphere then head towards TGIFridays on Broad St. It is hard to write something because I like the TGIFridays in Short Pump if you are willing to ride. On Broad St. I love the atmosphere and the friendly staff and the food and drinks is always on point. Never a dull moment. So if you are underage and want a good place to eat TGIFridays is good for you and if you are legal and want something to eat and drink before the club, then TGIFridays is good also. Especially for games and afterwork chill time.
