Dr. Billingsley tried to convince me that I needed $4000 worth of major dental work (tooth pulled, bridge made) instead of a root canal that would be 80% covered by my insurance. Because she "preferred" the extraction. The only care plan I received was for the extraction. I called and there was no medical reason for the extraction as opposed to the root canal. I was told that "some people will do almost anything to avoid a root canal" even though I gave no indication that I was one of those people. I was also told that an over the counter mouth guard would do more damage than good and I should get the $500 one that they sell. On top of this, I went for yearly exam and 6-month cleaning in September, when asked if anything had changed I told them about a tooth that was sensitive to hot and cold...they suggested I use sensodyne and that it was the enamel on the tooth. I was back a few weeks later when the pain started to get more intense. It was only then that they rememered the tooth was filled in December 2010 and they had a note in my chart about the possibility of a root canal. They charged me for the 2nd appt even though it was their oversight. I called my insurance company, the agreed with me. I called the dentist office and they gave me push back, tried to make it sound as if it was my oversight and said I would still be charged. The money is not the issue, it's the ethics here. I told them I disagreed with their decision, they said if I wanted my dental records forwarded to a new dentist that they would do that. I guess they did not value me as a customer once I was on to their game. I will not be back.
