We took our 1998 Leuxs in for repair at the recommendation of friends because there was a whining sound under the hood which, at the time we thought was the power steering pump. After closer inspection the mechanic determined the issue was the water pump and it was replaced. They also replaced the timing belt as well. The total cost was $1,236.00. When we drove the car home we noticed immediately that the A/C was not cooling and the A/C trouble light was on. My partner decided to return the car to their shop the following day after work. On the way there all the lights on the dash started flashing on and off and he had to pull off and call from the side of I-264 on a Friday afternoon. (Can you say scary?)
I have to admit they were kind enough to come tow it in and give us a rental for the weekend, but it was upsetting that nobody bothered to call and fill us in on the status of our car until the following Tuesday. At that point the service manager informed us the A/C belt had come off due to the wrong pulley being installed. When picking it up and driving the car across their parking lot to return the rental, I discovered the A/C was still not working. Forcing us to once again leave the car for further repair. Doesn't anybody there test drive these things?
It's now been a week and our car is still in the shop.
Would I recommend their service?
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
Highest price for Ford parts in the area 298 for a transaxle mount which is 262 at Freedom and 184 dollars online...
I think the service writers pad their commision
WOW: Very helpful and courteous. The salesman even bought me lunch!
