Kinderton Manor Inn is situated in a lovely location, adjacent to a picturesque golf course in the lake region of southern VA.. Once the stately home of a prominent physician, it has passed into its second set of B&B owners. Having stayed there during its first stint as a B&B, I recall the neat furnishings and wonderful state of the homestead. Despite the gracious attempts of the host and hostess, the Inn is starting to show its decline. Clutter is everywhere around the interior of the Inn, and it surely could use a good cleaning and painting. Gail was the perfect hostess, greeting us in the evening and insuring our comfort in our large bedroom. The room’s stately fireplace was hidden behind a large TV, taking away from the original presence of the stately room and furnishing that once graced the mansion. Despite the mold on the bathroom ceiling, lime residue on the fixtures and prominent placement of the toilet plunger, the hot water was sketchy but adequate. The Breakfast was timely and more than ample and a tribute to Gail’s wonderful efforts. Her husband joined us at breakfast and sat with us adding continuous conversation, or rather information. You would have to excuse yourself to have a moment alone to enjoy the breakfast, or the company at the table. A satisfactory first experience for some, but disappointing for anyone that has had the experience of any other clean or upscale B&Bs.
