User Rating: 1 out of 5 starsafter visiting merk's new location the decore has changed but the mentality of the astablishment has not. i found the food to be mediocre at best, the quality of the food was of a prepared food nature something that u can find in any frozen section of a supermarket u go to. the service wasn't bad but it wasn't top notch it was more of a truck stop to me then anything i would ever consider a resturant being it would be better to eat at a diner.

LOW GRADE FOOD. BAD SERVICE, DUE TO CONSTANT EMPLOYEE TURNOVER, ALWAYS NEW PEOPLE, ORDER USUALY WRONG. FOOD COLD, RAUNCHY NOT FIT FOR A DOG.ALWAYS AN ON RUNNING AD FOR NEW EMPLOYEES.IN MY EXPERIENCE WHEN THEY CANT KEEP HELP IS BECAUSE OF ONE OR TWO REASONS, 1- WILL NOT PAY A FAIR WAGE2- DO NOT TREAT EMPLOYEES WITH RESPECT. OR 1- AND 2.

I agree that the bad review was probably written by a disgruntled employee. This restaurant is great! If you are looking for great food, friendly staff, and excellent service- in a family friendly, "glad to see you" atmosphere, Merk's Place is your place.
Merk's is also that rare place that still has reasonable prices, and will create an order for you. I have food allergies, and can eat at Merk's without worries- all I have to do is let the wait staff know, and out comes a great meal I can eat without hidden ingredients. The chef goes to extra lengths to ensure that each meal is better than expected.

Will wager cash money that this review was written by a disgruntled ex-employee. And, given the incompetence displayed in the simple task of forming a coherent sentence or even turning off the caps-lock, it wouldn't be a terribly big surprise to learn that they were fired, probably for being the root cause of the problems mentioned. The truth of the matter is, Merks is awesome. And that's not just my opinion; I personally know people living in Northern Virginia, Tennessee, and Scotland, UK, who make a point to visit Merks every single time they're here in Farmville. And no, I'm not an employee or owner of the establishment. I am, however, a very satisfied customer. Has an employee ever gotten an order wrong for me? Sure. Just about as frequently as any other restaurant, and like any decent place, they fix it and apologize.
