I stayed in Wakefield for 2 months and this was basicly the only sitdown restaurant in town. As a result I tried eating there 5 times and the food was bad and overpriced each time I ate there. I tried breakfast, lunch, and dinner and each time I ended up leaving food on my plate when I left. How do you ruin eggs, toast, and bacon? They did it at the fine price of around $9.00 after taxes. I do not recommend this place to anyone. It was so bad I ate from the Tasty Treat moost of the time which is like a generic Dairy Queen. There's not much close by but you'd be better off driving 50 miles than eating at this place.
Sorry, another roadside tourist attraction gone bad. I donât recall cold sliced ham and canned green beans as âcountry cookingâ. Also the buffet was like cattle at a food trough. I would think since this area of Virginia is the Ham & Peanut capital of the USA that there would be lots of creative ham & peanut items on the menu, no not really. I could not recommend anyone stop in for the food, also there are better places for peanuts just down the road.
Stopped in here for Mother's Day, I purchased the fried chicken dinner from the menu, and was quite disappointed when I recieved:
1 drumstick
1 thigh
3 oz stewed tomatoes
2 oz mac&cheese
Total $8.30 before tax and tip
I could have gotten an entire bucket of chicken at a chicken place for only $1.00 more!
Was not impressed, have no plans to visit here again.
