I grew up eatting here so I am qualified to say the prices have gone up and the portions have gone down. I can appreciate raising the prices (ex. the roast beef sub has gone up .50 cents) but cutting the portions almost in half...come on! I guess everyone is trying to make it these days but when I open up my sub from the New Yorker, of all places, I always expected greatness! Now, there subs have less meat on them than Subway...I guess soon there will be no place left to get an authentic gut busting sandwich.
The New Yorker at one time was a great place to eat. The quality and taste of the subs and sandwiches were great. I would eat their at least once a week back in the 80's. That is when Mrs Russel and her family owned it. The food and service were great.
Now they have new owners who do not even have a clue. Unfortunately I do not eat here anymore. It is not the same quality or service.
I love the New Yorker! This restaurant has been one of my personal and family favorites for years. I remember going there as a kid. I will never get tired of the turkey and swiss sub. That's what a sub is supposed to taste like! I have never taken anyone with me that didn't like it. You get an enormous amount of food for what you pay and the quality is excellent. You can't get a sub like that anywhere else.
