User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsMy husband and I just recently moved to Martinsville...from a chic, up-to-date town that had new theaters and tons of chain restaurants. But guess what...we had to wait in long lines AND get to the theater at least 30 minutes ahead of time if we wanted to get tickets before they sold out. Movie Town was a welcome change for us. There were no lines, the tickets were considerably cheaper than we are accustomed to, and we could enjoy the movie without being crammed in like sardines. The theater is clean and safe. The employees are friendly. AND there are not swarms of punks and teenagers loitering around. We loved Movie Town! We enjoyed our relaxing night out.

This is a great theater.......25 years ago! Movie Town was a great place to hang out when I was in high school in the 80s. Unfortunately, I don't think they have updated their screens, projectors or sound systems since that time. Watching a movie there is just painful. You can barely hear the dialogue when the characters talk. How about investing in some new equipment, Movie Town? They definitely haven't updated their theater chairs or video games in the lobby since the 80s. If you live in Martinsville/Henry Co and want to see a movie, drive to Rocky Mt., there is a beautiful new theater there, and it's just a 25 min. drive.

Hear hear, I agree with you Chester. I really do not believe that this town wants to succeed. Nobody here that can make a difference knows the meaning of Quality Of Life. This is just one small piece of the puzzle of why no company of substance wants to move into the area.
