A few days ago my wife and I were treated to a most wonderful five course dinner at the General Lewis Inn. Apparently there is a new chef there, and our friends made reservations for the four of us. The chef decided what he would prepare with the suggestion from our friends that he should "be creative". Well, he was! I will not share his creation, but will leave your discovery for you to enjoy. I believe The General Lewis Inn has been catapulted to the head of the line of fine restaurants in Lewisburg!
This place is a gem! I made reservations for our group a year ahead, choosing this restaurant from what I learned on their internet site. There were 50 of us traveling through West Virginia. We ordered our meal a month ahead of time so they could be more efficient serving such a large group at one time. They served us in a timely way and the food was hot and delicious. The owner met our bus with a smile which made us feel welcome. Everyone at the General Lewis Inn were gracious and efficient. We never felt rushed even though there were local people waiting for dinner. Our group filled their dining room. The ambience was also fun - beautiful antiques and artwork, white tablecloths, etc. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We didn't stay overnight at the inn, but we looked at some of the rooms in the Inn and they were beautifully decorated - looked cozy and comfortable.
Nice Inn: Nice atmosphere, full of antiques. Great location but small rooms and hard beds.
