If you want a great steak dinner for a reasonable price, you can't beat this place. Being new to the area, I was surprised to find many restaurants with second-rate dishes, bland and overpriced in Harper's ferry, and no restaurants of any distinct flavor in Charles Town or Ranson (or anywhere south and east of Shepherdstown).

Though I've been told to make reservations by friends, I've been here 5 times without any, and they always find room. It's a quaint roadside diner on the outside, and well-appointed (though religiously eclectic) on the inside. Meat cuts are generous and cooked to perfection. You'll find all cuts of meat of many sizes much larger (if you like) than most steakhouses at a Ruby-Tuesday price. Service is very friendly and helpful, and they have many other selections as well as great desserts.

One thing to note is that they don't serve alcohol (I'd like to knock off a half-star for that though it doesn't seem to reduce the experience at all). So if you don't drink or don't mind getting an after-dinner drink somewhere else, you can get a Morton's-quality dinner with Ruth's Chris service (and a smattering of down-home atmosphere) at a fraction of the price. I haven't found a better deal in the area yet, including Shepherdstown.

I plan to bring all steak-loving friends here when they are in town.
