My husband and I went to IHOP. We placed our order with a very nice lady (Roxi) we waited for 1/2 hour and still no food. No one in the area we were sitting at had been served and all were there when we arrived. Flies were everywhere and landing on the customers. Myself included. We were so disgusted, we got up and left. The WORST every. After returning home I called to speak to to the manager to complain. When he (David) came to the phone I explained the shoddy service and complaint about the fly situation. I told him the waitress did a very good job. He said the fly issue they had been dealing with for 2 weeks, but also stated that was no excuse. As for the service...he stated he could not give an explaination, that he has been dealing with this problem all day. He did apologize. I told him we dine at the restaurant quit frequently. I all got was an apology, but he had no explaination for such poor service. I stated, I felt he should be made aware of it, although I didn't see how he could not be aware of it, since everyone in the area we were sitting were also complaining. He stated he was aware and again and been dealing with the problem all day.
In my restaurant experience this was most certainly the worst service I've ever received. We sat down, were greeted by our server "Bobbie" (no name given at the time). She took our drink order, brought us the incorrect drinks back to the table. We ordered. In the mean time four other tables were seated and served after our order was taken. After waiting 30minutes for our food we asked our server for some biscuits while we waited. 15 minutes later no food, no biscuits, no concern from our server as to why our food had not arrived. At this point she had still not come back by the table after the request for biscuits. I asked to speak with a manager, younger gentlemen who probably just assumed we were 'out for a free meal'. He did nothing. After getting up and taking my glasses to the host station to be refilled I asked to speak to another manager. This gentleman simply said ''I'll take care of your bill". No apology for the terrible service, nothing said to the server who clearly ignored her table. When we received our food the pancake toppings were cold, the bacon had been put into the deep fryer and tasted terrible. The hash browns were still cold and under cooked. The waitress NEVER checked back with the table to make sure we were ok, and never offered refills. In her spare time she conversed with the table beside us for nearly 15 minutes while we waited for our order, which obviously was never put in, several different times she'd wipe her nose and then continue to touch plates, drinks ect and never washed her hands. That was completely appalling. I have never witnessed service this poor in a restaurant. I don't mean to be rude or over critical but I myself, along with the person dining with me that morning both wait tables full time and would NEVER consider giving service half this poor. In our restaurant if there is an issue a manager apologizes, compensates and above all I, as a sever, check back with my table give my apology for any inconvience I may have caused. I called and spoke with the store owner, he offered the ONLY apology we were given, he was very polite and assured this would be taken care of. I feel that maybe due to our age our server may have ignored us, more concerned over tips of another table. However, I will insure you we tip at least 20% of our bill, more depending on the service. I will never return to this store and will certainly pass our experience on to future guest of IHOP.
