No one has ever been rude to me at Jim s. To be fair, the spaghetti isn t supposed to be traditional Italian spaghetti; it s an Appalachian interpretation. I imagine it s a recipe that dates back to the late 1880s and that it was the way a poor mountain woman recreated the delicious pasta dish her Italian neighbor (whose family likely came to the area for mining jobs) made, the delicious aroma wafting over the property line. Dang, I m gonna go get some right now!
Rude ownership/management, hidden charges, tasteless food, and not accepting alternative forms of payment to cash are things everyone needs to know about Jim's. Will never return under present ownership. Do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere it'll be appreciated!
My daughters in-laws eat there regularly and I have been occasionally. As they say, it's an "institution" in Huntington. I would give it a 4, it's good food, clean and I've never been treated shabbily as some.
I too remember Wiggins, but more for their BBQ. Would love to know the process they used to make it. I can just remember seeing it rotating under a heat lamp. I even ask Rob Johnson of WSAZ to ask his father if he knew of any relatives ot the owners, but to no avail
