Man, if not for those little red hot dogs right across from the Bryan School, I would have starved in college. I will never forget the first day I walked into the joint.
I was a brand new freshman, having JUST finished serving 4 years in the Navy. The year was 1993, and I was to spend the next 5 years putting up with Liberal professors indoctrinating unspspecting kids. But that was the price I had to pay to get my education.
I walked into this little old joint to get some chow between classes, and on the back wall I saw a bumper sticker that had to be as old as the building. It said "I served aboard USS LaVallette (DD 448). Did YOU?
I never met the WWII vet that built Yum Yums, but I knew tere was a kindred spirit milling around this place. I came back almost every day and made SURE he got my business until the day I graduated.
I have nothing but love for old Yum Yums!!
I have been going to YumYum's for the hotdogs and ice cream since I was a kid. Every Sunday after church and lunch, my parents would take us for ice cream. This was when it was located at the corner of Forest Ave. I brought my own kids as they were growing up and now my grandchildren. My parents are still coming for the hotdogs and ice crean at the young age of 82. Great food, great service and great value.
