The most memorable meals I've had in Greensboro have be at GVG. We love to go there for special occasions. The service has always been wonderful. The atomsphere is a bit loud but I love all the old brick and cozy booths it still feels very romantic. We love to meet at the bar for a drink before dinner with friends. They have a patio that is also great for relaxing. I had the roasted vegetables which included beets (which I hate) but I actually like them roasted. This is usually a fall dish since root veggies are then in season. Their menu does change monthly or quarterly so check out their webpage. One thing to definately try is the frozen Irishman dessert, you will not want to share. It's that good.

Nice place to bring out-of-town guests: The beauty of GVG is its atmosphere. It's a lovely setting with high ceilings, wall tapestries, and a theater kitchen (that's pretty loud if you're sitting right next to it). The food is interesting. Despite all the imaginative selections, one of the best things I've had here are the fries because they're seasoned with rosemary. The brunch here is also really good.
