I recently had a mamogram at Women's Hospital, this was my second. I am a breast cancer survior and had breast surgery and radiation. Needless to say my breast is very tender and also my breast bone. I had a horrible experience at the Breast Center and since then shudder at the thought of having to have a mamogram. But, I am pleased to say that I had the most wonderful technician this week, Lori Heath. She was very compassionate and understanding and made the procedure bearable. I wish there were more people like Lori in the health profession.

I have delivered 3 times at the Women's Hospital of Greensboro. Overall, I think the hospital is a good place to deliver your baby. I am in the healthcare field and I know how it is to have spurts of busy times in a hospital. I guess I have empathy for the nurses and other workers. And I know its not always their fault for what some perceive as bad service. Pertaining to Women's, I received great care during my labor & delivery part but when I went to the mother/baby side, it was harder to get my medicines, sometimes there was a little wait. But I didn't have any problem with the nursery. They watched the baby for a few hours at a time at night, so I could get some rest but brought the baby back to me when she was hungry to breastfeed. I felt like I got enough rest there, ate well, and for the most part, received good service. I really rather not deliver anywhere else. They have a NICU for special little premies. So I know if that was ever concern, I could deliver there and not have to worry about my baby being able to receive the best care. They have great classes to prepare to be a new parent and new big brother/sister classes as well. Another thing that is important for most women, is getting the epidural. They have anesthesia staff in house so when you want an epidural, you don't have to wait for the anesthesiologist to drive in. I can say my first epidural didn't work well, but the last 2 epidurals were tops! So hope some of this helps if you're trying to decide on a hospital to deliver at. And if you're looking for a great OB/Gyn doctor, I recommend Dr K Richardson. She is wonderful!

I would give this hospital maybe 3 stars. I see Dr. Steven Berliner (Dr B you always get 10 stars!! Regardless of the hospital) and he spoke so highly of this hospital that I was so excited to deliver my baby girl there. I was really disappointed! There were some nice nurses there. When I had my daughter it wasn't an option for me to let my daughter stay in the nursery for me to get a little sleep. I was told that if she started crying there wasn't enough staff to take care of her so I had to keep her in my room. I would've loved to keep her in my room but had just had a c-section and knew that I had twin 2 yr old boys at home and I had to get some rest before going home. The waiting rooms were nasty and my room was far from hospital clean. It was like begging to get pain meds from several of the nurses. I had to press the call button more than once to get anyone to come to my room.
They weren't all the same I must say. There were a couple really wonderful nurses but my overall experience was less than average. I had to be admitted because of dehydration twice while pregenant with my daughter and had horrible experiences both times. I had the displeasure of having the same nurse both times. The 2nd time was Christmas Eve and the nurse was hateful and very unprofessional. They put me in a room with no bathroom. Mind you I was admitted due to horrible diarrhea and vomiting. I had to walk around the hall to a bathroom 7 mths pregenant and dehydrated. Let's just say I wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone. I've been to Alamance Regional, Duke, Women's and Women''s rates the least favorable. Duke was wonderful with the birth of my twin boys. They were in the NICU there and my entire family was treated like royalty.
If you're looking for a hospital to to give birth I would recommend Duke University Medical Center, Durham NC
