I read the other reviews and something must have gone terribly wrong the day I went there. We live in Goldsboro and normally drive all the way to Durham to eat Indian at Sitar. I thought we would tyr something a little closer this time and was sorely disappointed. The food looked like it had been on the buffet for the entire day. It was dried to the sides of the pans. The place was not well kept, looked dirty and the food, like I said, was on the buffet way to long and turned my stomach. I really don't know why I even stayed. My first instint was to turn around and walk out and I really should have.
This might be ok if you eat there. the food was ok, but not great...However, I made the mistake of getting carry-out which they charged me 12 dollars a pound for the buffet. They charged me for the food and rice which came to 5 pounds. 65 dollars with tax for not a lot of food...a complete rip-off...DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE FOR TAKE OUT UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPEND WAY TOO MUCH MONEY!!!
An indian guy i see in the gym sometimes recommended this place to me. I like to try all exotic foods so this was a good opportunity to try something new. The location and decor is really nothing to write home about. Probably only 2 stars at most, but the food makes up for this! Buffet lunch during the week for only $6.99 (cash price) or $13 on Saturdays is really pretty good, and I have a fine pallet. All foods are very tasty and nicely spiced, but not too hot. The chef often comes out of the kitchen to ask how you like this or that an sometimes brings stuff to your table to try! Have not have this happen to me since a visit to Greece back in the 70's. Try the goat stew and mango mousse on Saturdays. But the chef said he tries to vary what he serves a lot so who knows what you might find when you go there.
