We went here with a large party (17 people). The food was great and the view, ambiance, and service were exceptional. From the dining room, you can view the sound, and an osprey nest 30 feet away where the mother was feeding her babies.
Our waiter did a phenomenal job and the owner, the Speaker of the House of NC, came to our table to ask us how everything was. Most entrees range from $20 to $30, so it's a little pricey, but well worth it. A great place if you're looking for a nice restaurant.
This is such a pleasant place to have lunch or dinner. We had a beautiful window view. Bodie Island Lighthouse was in the distance. The 16 layer chocolate cake with homemade whipped cream is wonderful. It is expensive, especially the dinner menu. They have the most delicious cornbread you will ever eat. They waiter brings a basket to the table while you wait on your food. The is a 4-Star eatery.
This is a large restaurant with almost no ambience if you sit inside (freezing) as we did the day we were there. Verrry prompt service, our food came before we finished our appetizers. Those issues aside, we enjoyed huge portions of very fresh seafood and friendly attentive service. I would rather have paid less for a more reasonable amount of food as dinner for 2 plus a child cost almost $100 with a good tip. So this is a big family restaurant with better than average food.
