Shamrock Restaurant

Immediately noticed the dirty carpet and stale smell in the restaurant. There was some sort of cat dander or other fur all over the table. Got fried okra, and it was obviously frozen, and possibly microwaved. Don't eat here on the weekends if you're vegetarian. The salad bar isn't open on the weekends, and there are very few options for those who don't eat meat. The kids' menu didn't have a single non-meat option available.

Very nice folks but pretty poor food. Cool, soggy french fries, cool, soggy fried okra. A cup of coffee that tastes like cigarette ash and a little side of cole slaw that isn't quite the right color - looks and tastes like it has been left out in the sun. A greasy grilled cheese sandwich that is about 1/8" thick, a slice of American cheese pressed hard between two greasy, soggy pieces of white. Lastly, a "deluxe burger" where all the "Deluxe" fixins were skipped. I'm always the fan of the mom & pop shops but this wasn't even good greasy-spoon joint food. It was just greasy and gross. There's no bonus points if the food is just nasty and you don't even try to make it decent. Any given chain restaurant makes better food - even fast food restaurants. I wouldn't go there again and can't recommend it to anyone else.

We were traveling through and stopped here. I am SO GLAD we did. It had AMAZING soul food Sunday lunch buffet. The greens and cabbage and corn and sweet potatoes were the BEST I have ever had!!!!!!! Wish we lived closer and could eat here every week!
