    The Black Pelican in Kitty Hawk was probably the worst dining experience in my life. The food was mediocre, at best, the service was slow and inattentive, the food was overpriced, the noise level was unbearable, and the room we were in was MUCH too cool for comfort.

    We were seated near a bride's party, which screamed and chanted drunkenly and endlessly. This was a big motorcycle meet weekend (not why we were in Kitty Hawk), but at least two groups of bikers left after being seated but not yet served because of the noise. Management just said, "it's not our fault."

    The air conditioning was set way too high (cold), and the waitress had to twice come by an apologize for our food being so slow. The clam chowder had way too much thyme, which completely obscured the clams. My scallops were gelatinous and off-flavor. The food was way overpriced for the quality--actually, the food quality was unacceptible. Getting the final check too MUCH longer than it should have.

    I would strongly suggest avoiding the Black Pelican in Kitty Hawk.

    The Black Pelican was recommended by a local. We ate there twice during our week stay. I wish we had eaten there more rather than trying out some of the other less than favorable alternatives. The food here is great and service was very professional. The parking was good. The wait was short to be seated and for the food to be served, which is admirable with the number of patrons there. Pricing was reasonable. All in all a great place and a great value.

    I love this place it is like home! The food is great!!! And the service is outstanding! Our server Michelle, did an Excellent Job! She was so nice! And cute too! The atmosphere was great and they have a smoking section i love it! Everyone should eat here!
