User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsMost unique and best tasting hot dog you'll ever eat. The hot dogs are deep fried, the buns are steamed and served w/ 3 toppings; mustard, onions and grayish spicy chili sauce. The chili is famous around Eastern N.C. Bills has been around since the 20's and draws a large crowd that often extends out onto the sidewalk of its historic downtown Washington location. I've been enjoying them for over 20 years.

I'm sorry but I've been eating Bill's hot dogs my entire life... they ARE delicious and AWESOME, but they are NOT deep fried!! They are of the "red variety" and are boiled. Sure do wish I had the recipe for that yummy spicy chili!!!
What makes U say they are boiled? Every time I see them there being fried.
I've bought as many as fifty at one time and taken them to family living in Texas. I think one of the lady told me that orders as large as 1000 at a time has been placed. I've eaten them over the last 40 years, I know that they are indeed fried.
They are indeed fried. I have been enjoying these since I was very small. 2 all the way and a Dr. Pepper. wow! The dogs are thrown into a vat of hot oil and fried. They look like they are being boiled but it is hot oil that you see, not water. Go back and have some more and then tell us wheter you still think they are boiled or fried.
I dont know why that young lady said they are boiled...I have eaten tmore than I can count since 1980 and not one of them has been boiled. Now in my adult life I have visited the company that makes the dog in Bills Hot dogs...the recipe was drafted by the original owner of Bill's (Mr.Gerard) and the packing company. I dont eat uless I order 6!
I love these hotdogs, Ihave been eating them all my life as well, and I buy to many of them, but they are the best ones ever.
