User Rating: 1 out of 5 starsNot worth the money. Or more to the point...awful. We stayed right down the street and decided to get a meal out instead of cooking on our last night. We checked the reviews and Top Dog Cafe sounded like a good place to eat.
Five of us were eating dinner. The bacon wrapped scallops appetizer was very good.
Four of use ordered fried dinner baskets. The portions were way over priced. I got the dinner sized shrimp and oyster basket. It consisted of FIVE shrimp and 3 small round bits of fried that may have been oysters on a bed of fries. $19.50.
My wife got the clam strips....they tasted like (and had the consistency of) rubber. The other two baskets were also disappointing. My son got a loaded hot dog. It looked pretty good and he was happy with it.
So if you must eat at Top Dog do NOT get the fried baskets.
I know we will not eat at the Top Dog again.-

For beach food, I would give it 4 stars. If it was DC, I may only give 3. It was nice to eat outside on their screened in deck. Especially at night. It might be a little hot to eat there in the summer during the day though. They had overhead fans, but in this heat I don't think I would want to eat lunch there. We had the shrimp wrap special, which was 11 dollars, and was pretty good. Our au pair, ordered a Tuna Melt and they forgot to put cheese on it. I have never heard of a melt without cheese. She ordered it without bread (Atkins diet) so maybe the waitress just got confused.

Best burger on Route 12! The bacon wrapped scallops were so good we ordered seconds! Atmosphere is perfect for a natural beach lover. Breezy, comfy, no mosquitos. Highly recommended. Seating is limited so get in early!
