Went there on a rainy Friday night around 10:30.
Pros
Good central location so that you can blend a visit in with other activities downtown.
Danceable music for the most part.
Dance area - they do not have a dance floor!
Free parking.
Friendly staff.
Same DJ's all the time (consistency).
Inexpensive beverages (all).
Different Zones (Dance, Bar and Balcony).
Mix of ages and good M/F ratio.
Featured dancers - Billy Idol look alike was there my visit and was good.
Cons
They do not respond to emails or telephone messages (even to get tickets for new years) despite what their website says.
Cover stays same no matter how late you come?
Climbing stairs.
Limited beer selection (low price offsets this)
You can see whole men's (not sure about women's) bathroom on second floor when door opens and toilet area has no walls or even privacy dividers!
Too Loud - DJ's can get carried away thinking volume adds excitement, mix could be adjusted to allow for rest/recovery for active dancers.
2nd floor dance area - Not really a dance floor but an area of the regular painted concrete floor in front of the DJ. It is not sectioned off, not a dance surface, kept free of non dancers, drinks, and smoking. You have walk through the dance area to get to the DJ, some seating and the door to the stairs, so you get people bumping into you all the time. The paint on the floor is chipped of for most part and not smooth or level in parts that there is paint. It had all sorts of detritus such as spilled drinks, gum, cigarette butts, broken glass, toilet paper (stuck on girls shoe!) so slide moves are hard to do and if you wear leather soled shoes as I did so I can dance they have to be scraped off frequently.
Specific issues night I was there - break dancing show going on much too long ( more than 5 songs) Break dancer with flashlight shining it on a woman's gluteus maximus (thanks to the gentleman that jumped over and blocked it, but she was told and did not appreciate it).
cant wait to go back: there is a lot i like about this club the people the beer the hall the size of the clud all out fun fun fun that is if you know how to have it fun that is nah but on the real there was no dislikes about this place i would love to go back

I disagree. There is a dance floor and its very large. I have been going to te Breakfast Club for 5 years..and all these cons seems silly. We are lucky have a club like this in Charlotte!! The music is awesome and the layout is supposed to be 80s themed. If the music is too loud, stairs are too high, and you need " recovery time"..stay away from a high energy dance club
Your assumption that the stairs are too high or that I need recovery time are incorrect. Climbing up and down stairs is a waste of time and unsafe for many as I have seen people fall. The inebriated in high heels are especially at risk. I should refine my comment on the sound. The acoustics do not produce a good sound quality at the volume level played, likely not at any volume. Worse there is no where that you can talk to anyone without screaming. If you like it so loud that you can't socialize you should not go to a club. It is obvious that you like the place if you have been going for 5 years, but I can't imagine listening to the same songs over and over for 5 years!
