User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsBest home cooking in Shelby. If you want fast food then Subway and Burger King are waiting. The best restaurants in the country are slammed pack because its because of the food. The previous review missed this point. I have been to every restaurant in Shelby and Southern Style is far better than the "famous" Downtown Shelby eatery. The food is not out of a box, bag or can. I will continue to support this restaurant and only hope that they were open 7 days a week. I have never waited or felt crowded in this restaurant and if time and not the food is what is most important to you then fast food chains are everywhere. This restaurant is a diamond in the rough and too bad not more people are aware.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI love to go to this place! It has down home country cooking. They always have several choices of meat and a nice selection of vegetables at a very reasonable price. I always look forward to stopping by to eat in or just pick up take-out. I call in before I show up to see if they're serving my favorites. Their fried chicken is to die for!!!
User Rating: 3 out of 5 starsFood is OK. Very heavy southern style fare. Crowded dining area. The one time we went to the Sunday buffet, they were so disorganized that people trying to get throught he buffet line, if that is what they were trying to have, had the whole dining area clogged up. Would not be a regular at this restaurant.

Let me start by saying that Southern Style has the best home cooked food in Shelby. It tastes homemade and not out of box or can, unlike a very popular Downtown Shelby restaurant. As for the previous comment, clearly you don't enjoy Southern food. Next time try Subway or Golden Corral and you can get in and out really fast...that's how I pick which restaurant to go to...you know, how fast I can stuff my face. I have eaten at every single restaurant in Shelby and there is no doubt that Southern Style is the best home cooking. I must say that I have never gone there for their Sunday buffet, but the other four times there was no disorganization or crowded in any way. Try their cobbler and fried chicken!
