Mi Pueblito is a small but growing chain in the foothills of Western NC. I don't know how authentic the food is (I'm a native of NC) but I know it's my favorite Mexican restaurant based on service, price, and taste. Over the years I've visited quite a few Mexican restaurants, not just in NC but all over the Southeast and as far west as Texas. I'll take Mi Pueblito over any of them, without question, especially the others in Shelby and the ones in nearby Gastonia, NC. I must add that I now prefer Mi Pueblito in Kings Mountain, NC because it isn't as crowded, loud, nor busy. The food and service are just as good. Personal favorites are Steak Cheese Burrito, Quesadilla Mexicana, Vegetarian Quesadilla, Mexican Pizza, Two Amigos, and last but not least, Chimichangas (ask for beef tips). Try some of their "cheese dip" (chili con queso although most folk just say cheese dip) instead of or in addition to the salsa.
My husband doesn't do Mexican, but Mi Pueblito is one place he loves! The chips and salsa are great, and pretty much bottomless - you keep asking, they'll keep bringing it! The prices are fair, and you get good, hot food! They have no problem substituting - great with picky kids! Service is excellent -they keep your drinks filled! We get the Pollo Ranchero (chicken, rice, tortillas to wrap, large portion!!), and Enchilada special (4 enchiladas: beef, chicken, cheese, bean -which I switch out for another cheese - covered in red enchilada sauce. YUM!) The cheese dip is amazing, goes great with the chip/salsa! Family of 4 (young kids) can get out of there under $25!! You can barely do that at a fast food place.
Mi Pueblito is amazing. And the cheese dip is like the best thing ever!
GET THE CHEESE DIP IF YOU GO! :)
