| About: | Japanese tradition meets American cool in Nikko, where the decor and atmosphere will leave you comfortable, relaxed and ready to enjoy your repast. The sushi is masterfully created, and unlike some places, you'll get enough to fill you up. Other traditional dinners you can order include Sukiyaki, which is thin slices of steak with vegetables cooked in a pot, and Ton Katsu, a crusted pork loin on baby greens. The restaurant can be crowded on the weekends, and it's not really dim enough to be romantic, but the food makes it well worth your while to visit. |

At night this place is HOPPING! The owner normally wears a cowboy hat and goes dancing around the restaurant with a tamberine while a spotlight shines on the disco ball. It's a little pricey so you're mainly paying for the chic setting but the sushi is good.
What a horrible experience! Nikko used to have good sushi in a pleasant atmosphere. Now it's in sleek noisy space, and the owner - who used to just come sit at your table to get attention - now turns the music up to "Blast" and runs up and down the aisle in a cowboy hat with a tambourine. I could make this up? This was a random Wednesday - no big events, this is just what she thinks is cute. Conversation was completely out of the question. The sushi was adequate, to the extent we were able to taste it.
I live here in North Carolina, but I'm originally from California. In the past four years I've tried other sushi restaurants in North Carolina and this is the first one I've been to that I can honestly say compares in quality to what I use to get when I dined at the sushi restaurants back in the Bay Area. I loved the atmosphere, the service was excellent, the servers were friendly, the owners had a personable, helpful approach and very much involved with the front of the house, which I feel is key to the success of your restaurant. Now I only wished I lived closer to Charlotte, so I could dine here every week.
