After hearing about this place we got $25 cards from restaurant.com and figured we would try it. When we came in it was a little smoky but not bad so we decided to stay...I wish we would have left.
We ordered gumbo and she crab soup for appetizers and both were good, that's were things went down hill. I ordered a cesar's salad which was "ok" and tasted like Kraft dressing on it. I ordered the Tuna with mediterranean salsa with the veggies. The tuna was overcooked and dry (ordered it med) and the "salsa" was overpowering and didn't go with the dish (it had peppers, olives, tomatoes, & capers). IFor $18 I expected more and only at the veggies and the tuna, the rice was just filler if you want it but this was no way worth $18.
My wife got the baked flounder which was a dish with a good serving of flounder breaded served with white rice and veggies. Again, very bland and not impressive at all, it tasted like it had breading with no taste and a sprinkle of old bay. Both meals had little flavor and were a HUGE disappointments for the cost.
Even with the $25 card we still spent $40, we could have went to Bonefish grill for the same money and had a meal 10 times better. Will never bother again.
Wonderful Cajun/South food. Great atmosphere. The fully functional model train runs along a track elevated overhead. The walls are lined with beer mugs engraved with peoples' names/nicknames.
If you eat here, ask for the special cornbread muffins. They are the best I've had in my 38 years of living....and I've tried a lot!
They just started serving Sunday brunch and it has become a regular Sunday haunt of ours now. Matter of fact, we are having a dozen guests in town for our daughter's dedication and I am about to call now to reserve the 'special room' they have for parties and small gatherings.
This is a must try.
A very nice overall experience: We finally went there for the first time last night after hearing so much about it over the years. It had a great atmosphere. A lively atmosphere which, from the inside, actually reminded me of a restaurant we visited in New Orleans. We had a nice wine recommended by the waiter. I enjoyed the Fresh Maine Lobster and lightly fried Artichoke Hearts. (I love Artichokes and these were great.) My wife had an excellent bowl of their French Onion Soup and Chicken Etouffee' which for her was fair. It seemed to be a little on the bland side last night. Overall we had a very nice meal in great atmosphere.
