I was not happy with the food. I ordered takeout and the enchiladas did not taste good. The guacamole on the enchiladas was brown. It was a mess.
The food was good if you've never had authentic Mexican food. I grew up in southern California so I have a standard of what the food should taste like. The salsa tastes like tomato sauce with jalapenos. The chips were good but had no salt. The guacamole was bland. The carne asada burrito I ordered had beans inside with red sauce on top, which tasted like enchilada sauce. I have NEVER had a carne asada burrito with beans inside and it did not compliment the burrito. However, the rolled tacos my spouse ordered was delicious, nothing wrong with it. I would eat here again, I'll just order something else and make sure I ask what's included.
As authentic as you'll probably get here in Fayetteville! The food is excellent, the prices are very reasonable (expect to pay on average $6 a plate, depending on what you get) and our waiters were courteous. A good vegetarian section on the menu; not a completely no-smoking restaurant; the wait for your food is rather long, but the quality of the food makes up for it; and the food isn't too spicy. I appreciated the brief "dictionary" on the back of the menu too, describing unfamiliar dishes. A very satisfactory experience!

No way! Monterrey is not authentic, and not the closest to Mexican food.
