This mansion fell into ruin in 1941 and to visit it now in its restored glory is testament to the Society that manages these mansions. While not as opulent as The Breakers, it has character. The ballroom has to be the best room in it. The craftmanship on the ceiling is wonderful. One thinks that they are in a chateau in France. The lawn in the rear of the mansion overlooking the bay is breathtaking.
It is no wonder that the film industry uses the mansion as a setting for The Great Gatsby.
