We had an absolutely fabulous lunch today at the Oceanic Restaurant. The ocean view was impecable and the food was excellent. We had the Shrimp Basket, Shrimp Fresca, and House Seafood Platter and all were wonderful. We also want to thank Chris for his excellent service.
Brought company to eat here. Embarrasing. Salads were old. Crab dip was dry. Entree's were not worth the money. Waste of $100 dollars for two people. Will not be dining there ever again!
We were staying at the hotel right next to the Oceanic and had lunch an dinner at the Oceanic on the day we arrived, 2008-01-19.
We found the servers at both lunch and dinner to be very attentive yet not pushy at all. They were there whenever we needed anything but were not intrusive at all.
Lunch:
Hush Puppies (4/5) â Simple and delicious, exactly what they should be.
Oyster Sampler Appetizer (4/5) â This was 3 Oyster Rockefeller and 3 Oyster Oceanic (I think that was what they called them) these were a house recipe fixed with a horseradish based stuffing and baked as are Oyster Rockefeller.
Halibut Basket (5/5) â A nicely fried halibut filet and french fries, simple and delicious, crunchy and clean, not greasy or oily at all.
Catfish Basket (5/5) â Ditto above.
They served cocktail sauce and tarter sauce on the side, we donât eat tarter sauce so I cannot comment on that but the cocktail sauce could have been a bit spicier for our tastes. I usually ask for some ground horseradish on the side to spice it up a bit but I did not ask this time. The fish actually stood on its own very well and we did not even use much of the cocktail sauce.
Seating for lunch was a high top table in the first floor bar area up against the windows and the view of the ocean was wonderful.
Dinner:
Gumbo (4/5) â Mixed seafood gumbo with a nice spice to it and good texture.
Sautéed Grouper Filet (5/5) â Sauteed with wine, butter and capers. Fresh and cooked just right, had a nice flake to it and not overcooked.
Sauteed Mahi Mahi (5/5) â Ditto above again.
Mixed Vegitables (4/5) â We both had these as our side and they were cooked crisp and consisted of Yellow Squash, Zuchinni, Red Bell Peppers, Snow Peas and Brocolli. They were a bit crispy but I would rather have them crisp than mush, we both ate them all anyway so no complaints here.
Seating for dinner was in a side by side booth on the second floor looking out at their pier, it was quite nice I thought.
