Very good, not great: Every room faces the ocean. But if you are too low, you can't see the beach. And on one side, if you are low, you hear ALL the noise coming up from the pool, which can be a lot. Problem with staying up top is that there is a big spot light on top of the hotel that lights up the beach at night (which is very cool). But that attracts moths that can get in the room. Rooms are nothing special. Same beach room you have staying in at any beach. Each room having a balcony is nice though. There are no other hotels close, just houses. So the beach never seems crowded. Pool side bar (cheap considering it is a resort pool bar) is nice, although a tad slow. Hotel restuarant is a tad above average. A bit slow, but a nice selection, although nothing gormet. The bar is one of the most under-rated on the beach, especially on the weekend. DJ on the weekends, free jukebox during the week. Closes a bit early (1am weekends, once it is dead and after 10 during the week). But a very good wait staff (especially Jan the bar manager). Also, perhaps the most alcohol per dollar in the drinks on the entire island. 20 oz draft beer only 2.50, strong high balls 3.50. Closer to a lounge than a bar. Pool table and small dance floor, seating at the bar or tables. Popular with older locals on Saturday nights. Biggest draw back is non-water/beach activites for kids. Closest putt-putt like place is a 7 minute drive, waterslide 15 minute drive. Also, it is a good 15-20 minute drive to some of the nicer places to eat for adults. GOOD shopping is also a tad futher than that. But for what it offers, it may be the best value on Atlantic Beach for on the beach hotels, and it is a VERY GOOD value during the off-season. Would be a great place to get away to during the off-season for a couple who is looking for a quiet weekend who want to do a little more than just stay in the room.
