Well lets just say frost seafood house has been a family tradition of ours for a long time! We travel to the coast every year and always stop by the resturant for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast a must one of the few places on the island for a delightful meal that is fast and friendly served. Try the eggs benedict with their homeaide hollidays sauce or shrimp and grits always a fav. definitly head to frost for breakfast bc if you go down the road its a no go and frost had alot of rooms i was impressed we never have to wait one of the few places on the island... always waiting at other places but frost accomidates. So i need to talk about the dinner we had one night at frost can you say AMMMMAAAZZZINNNGGG ... the server she was on top of things very friendly and family atmosphere ... always willing to make you feel at home very down to earth people. I had their crablegs and my wife had stuff flounder stuffed with crabmeat it was very impressable. Very satisified customer Captain G woohoo
Do you want a "standard" breakfast? My family and I vacation on Emerald Isle every year. We are always on the lookout for a good breakfast spot. Our favorite breakfast spot was not opened so we decided to give Frost's Seafood House a try. We didn't order anything spectacular but then again there was nothing spectacular on the menu. My first disappointment came when they were out of corn beef hash. Later I found out through talking to the cashier that their corn beef hash comes out of a can! Pancakes were standard. Scrambled eggs were nothing to crow about. My wife ordered biscuits and gravy. The serving looked good but the temperature was tepid. Biscuits and gravy should be HOT when served. The biscuits were large and very tasty. This was the high water mark for our breakfast. Our server was dispassionate. All in all this was very standard breakfast without any redeeming qualities. A bit more effort in the kitchen will yield a much better breakfast experience.
We had heard of Frost's and decided to give them a try. My wife ordered stuffed flounder; it was very boney and not a bit of seasoning. She sent it back and it was promptly returned to her with the explanation that she was eating the "belly side" of the fish, and bones were to be expected. We refused it, and it was taken off the tab, charging us only for the vegetables.
I ordered the 3 item seafood platter, ($18.95) along with squash casserole, fries, and green beans. Now you would expect a platter to be just that....a platter. Instead, I got a small oval plate with a piece of flounder about 6-7 inches long, 4 oysters, and 6 shrimp. All the food was very bland with absolutely no seasoning. The fresh out-of-the-can green beans tasted like the shrimp, and the flounder tasted like the fries and oysters.....meaning no taste at all. I complained about the lack of salt or other seasoning and was told that the majority of their "regulars" were on no-sodium diets, therefore they didn't put salt in any of their foods. Duhh!
The waitress was very polite but inattentive. Twice we had to ask another waitress to inform our waitress to come to our table.
Won't be no 'nother time.
