I have eaten here for several years, both dine-in and take-out. I have always been satisified with the service, price and quality....until my last take-out. I ordered the lunch scallops with the carrots, rice and ginger salad. When I returned to my office to eat, I was disappointed. For nearly $9, I had 4-5 very thinly sliced, nickel size scallops, the dressing was wrong for the salad and the carrots were so-so at best. The main course of rice was good, but for a $9 lunch, I would have expected better from them. I will go back, but not anytime soon.
I have no clue why this person dislikes the tokyo express so much. The menu has both japanese and vietnamese food...both are excellent...the vietnamese menu is excellent. the sushi is outstanding. And the comment about the prices is just sillie....sounds like the prior poster just wants to complain about a nice place ran by a nice bunch of people. if you are not local you may not realize that nancy donates large sums of money to the red cross and other charities. then saying the take out place next to food lion is better...i guess the prior poster likes frozen premade foods as opposed to fresh vietnamese food...o the soymilk is outstanding...for fun with a group order a good amount of shushi...you will simply love it...it is good quality food, friendly service and more than reasonable prices....prior poster just as a huge axe to grind for some reason.
Bad food and bad service: What other place can you order a Sapporo (big silver can of beer) have it explode all over you, the table and your 2 year old. Where else will the manager then stand there while you clean it up and suggest that you don't know how to open a beer? We are in this area several times a year and love Japanese food...we will never go back. Had to remind them to get our salad dressing and to take all the wet napkins off the table so they could put our food down...had to tell them to do that! The food was barely warm when we finally got it (it takes 4 minutes to make) and it took FOREVER. We had to go out for another Anniversary dinner the next night it was such a bad experience. The chinese takeout near Food Lion was better and cheaper. If you're going to spend your $$ on overpriced places that cater to tourists that are plenty of choices besides this one. Abondon hope all ye who enter here!
