This place is fun and the food is pretty good. We went there on a weekend and ended up going back for the music. Busy place on the weekends so it might be a good idea to make a reservation. I didn't get the part in the other reviews about the waitstaff and the owner. I thought the staff was pretty cool and on top of things. we are planning to go back in a couple of weeks.

Wow...I can't believe the previous reviews are about the same Purple Onion that I have been to.

Let me give it to you straight. If you go to the Purple Onion on Friday or Saturday night you can expect two things...# 1 - to wait and # 2 -- a crowd. That's just the way it is.

The food at the Purple Onion isn't the cheapest. If you are looking for an Appleby's three course deal for $11.99 then it ain't going to happen at the Purple Onion. However, the food is very reasonably priced for the quality and quantity you receive.

As far as the friendly staff, if you want to chit-chat with the staff then I suggest going at lunch because at dinner (especially on the weekends) that are busier than a bunch ants.

We have a cottage in the area so we drop in frequently and have caught good entertainment and not so good entertainment, but we don't go for the entertainment, we go for an outstanding lunch or dinner.

    Here's few tips...
They have outstanding soup (made daily). Try the soup of the day. It will be great regardless of what it is.

If you like a good steak, try to rib-eye. I think they serve one of the best in the area.

And as for me...I can't say no to a good homemade blackberry cobbler and they have one of the best. Get it topped with ice cream and a cup of coffee.

    Enjoy!

I ate in this resturant on a Saturday afternoon at lunch time. The place was very crowded and the menu looked good so we decided to try it.Unfortunately we found it to be poorly managed. We were in there forever!Waiting, waiting and more waiting. We also had two children under 5 with us so it made the waiting more difficult because they were so hungry. The food was good, but small portions. After the long wait for the food our waiter seemed to disappear while we were in need of our check.I finally went to the bar with my very tired child and spoke to the lady who looked like the manager.I explained about our long wait and needing to get our kids home and how we needed our bill, she was very unfriendly and never apologized.I would not recommend this resturant. There are many other cute little cafes in this town that are run much better then this place.
