My husband and I were visiting the mountains with my mother. On the way home my mother suggested that we try Clyde's for a really nice sit-down meal. She told us that years before she used to stop there at times and the food was really good then. We decided to try it. I am disabled and wheelchair bound. the first thing we noticed that the access inside of the building was not designed for someone in a wheelchair. I run into that at times and sometimes I can work around it to get inside. Then the hostess made a already uncomfortable situation worse by telling us that she couldn't seat us because my wheelchair would block the space between the tables. After we reminded her that she couldn't refuse us seating because it was against the law she insisted that we sit up close to the door in a corner of the room not even designed for customers seating.Since we were hungry, but more importantly, my mother had to eat something to take her medications, we stayed. The food was barely warm and tasted like it had been sitting a long time and reheated. I ordered some blackberry cobbler and it was so bitter that I couldn't eat it. The tea was watered down and the rolls were cold and hard. If the food had been good then the inconvenience and snubbing I recieved due to my disability would have been at least partly worth it. My mother was very disappointed and told the waitress that the food was not good. We tried to tell them about the attitude of the hostess toward my being in a wheelchair, but they ignored those comments with silence and looking away. I will never go back and will tell everyone about the lack of concern for disabled persons.
A great place for Sunday dinner or week day lunch: Clydes is a great place to eat...either Sunday dinner or a week day lunch. Always good food at good prices.
Clyde's: Home cooking at it's very best!
