| About: | Rich in history, Poplar Lodge oozes charisma as its stirs nostalgic notions and is an absolute must when you are spending a romantic night or weekend in the mountains. Reputed to have supplemented its food and lodging income by offering untoward services in its early days, the Lodge with its unmatched atmosphere and awesome location dates back to the roaring twenties. The stunning, clubby decor is highlighted by impressive dark logs contrasted with creamy off-white chinking and rarely-seen antiques and memorabilia. The ambiance is truly magical. Tables around a warm, cozy fireplace or the picturesque terrace overlooking a spectacular mountain range are perfect places to enjoy a delicious steak, toast your good fortune, celebrate the moment or to simply snuggle. Allowing your imagination to meander, you might spot Frank Sinatra and his Rat Pack, F. Scott Fitzgerald or Jack Dempsey, the famed boxer, who once trained here, sitting around the bar. |

Meh.: I went to Poplar Lodge for Mother's Day 2005 expecting the best for a price. My sister-in-law raved about the place. Well, Poplar Lodge deserves the short story. Service was fair to poor and food was pricey for the quality. I get just as good food from Binion's Roadhouse -- a sister Quattlebaum Co. restaurant -- for much less. I don't mind paying for quality, but this felt like a bit of a ripoff. Oh, and as for the salad bar, The Peddler has every bit the salad bar that Poplar Lodge has, again, for less. Why pay more when you get the same quality?
Let's keep it a secret!: Service was so, so! I had to send my meal back due to the shrimp was tough and had no flavor, and I was charged full price for the salad bar by the manager for one trip! If a meal is returned because the customer is not satisified, then there should be no charge at all! Waitress did not apologize! Very dissappointed! Also my husband and I were seated next to a table of 20 which made our own conversation very hard to hear!!!!!!!! Big mistake in the world of fine dining! Would not return or recommend any one go there!!!
poplar lodge-GREAT !!: Outstanding food;wonderful salad bar;great mountain view and friendly service with little or no wait time. The only thing I regret about this 5-star reviewis the fact that it will become so popular that I will have hard time getting in.
