| About: | Though simply named as 'Salsa's', this restaurant offers some of the finest cuisine Mexican and Caribbean cuisine in Asheville. The preparations are quite experimental but retain the authentic Cuban flavors and the ingredients used are organic. 'Salsa made with pumpkin seeds' is one such mouth-watering delicacy. If you prefer spicy food, 'fire-roasted pepper tacos' is sure to delight you. Among the usual beverages, one also finds Jamaican red and white wine here. This place is usually noisy with loud music playing in the background and is crowded because of the limited space; but the creative menu and fiery food more than make up for it. |

We have been to Salsa's 4 times since moving to A'ville in April. The first time we went it was absolutely amazing! We thought we had found food heaven, a perfect fusion of Latin and Caribbean flavors. But our next 3 meals there, although good, were not spectacular. I realize that this isn't mass produced food so inconsistency is almost unavoidable, but I have been a little disappointed that Salsa's hasn't "wowed" me since our first tasting. New chef? I don't know. I will keep going back. I agreed with another reviewer. Their drinks are a little pricey and what is up with the room temperature water. Maybe it is to give a more authentic feel of eating dinner on a remote island. ?
Good food, exceptionally RUDE staff.
My family and I have been eating at Salsa for about 10 years and have recommended
This ârestaurantâ to many of our friends both around Asheville and abroad.
That will not happen again! Yesterday , we went to Salsa for lunch and the hostess insisted
on setting 4 adults and 3 children at a table for 4 people, and yes the children were also
ordering from the menu.
Our waitress who was very nice said we could use the table that joined ours to allow for
us to have room to eat. During the course of our meal, the hostess (apparently under direction of management) walks up and said âIâm sorry
but you will have to move to the other tableâ. Realizing that it was not in her best interest to pursue
this request, the hostess moved along and did not ask again, but continued to shoot dirty looks
at us along with some of the other staff. You would think that a restaurant in a town that is known
for celebrating the rights of âeveryoneâ would also consider the rights of children.
It was obvious that because our children were not ordering the more expensive items on the menu
they were viewed as âtaking up spaceâ that could be used by others who would do so.
What about their right to enjoy a meal with their Grandparents who wanted to take them and their parents
to a restaurant that used to be great.
Just as I have recommended this place to others in the past, I will equally not recommend it in the future.
Do not go to Salsa if you enjoy good service!
I could not help but notice the restaurant was not nearly as crowded as in times pastâ¦
I would say that this restuarant, time and time again, stands as the top 5 of all restaurants in the entire state. I do not kid when I say that. I have been to some amazing restaurants, from Winston Salem, to Charlotte, to Raleigh, to Pinehurst, to the Outer Banks. This restuarant could top the entire list. Try anything. You will be pleased.
